Michael Thomas Anderson

Peoria – Michael Thomas Anderson, 50, Peoria, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born in Peoria on May 21, 1970, son of Herold (“Andy”) Davis Anderson, Jr. and Marilyn Jeanne Anderson. Both preceded him in death.

Mike was a graduate of Richwoods High School (1988) and attended Millikin and Bradley Universities. He worked for multiple years at HGS in Peoria, as well as at Walgreens and Walmart. Much to his family’s teasing, he had some great loves including apes, board and card games, and roller coasters. He may also have been Barry Manilow’s number one fan.

He was an active member at Glen Oak Christian Church where he served as a deacon and in numerous volunteer positions, including Circle Leader at Weekday Wonders mid-week program, and Vacation Bible School. Mike was also a faithful participant of Faith Alive house church ministry.

Surviving are his three siblings, Debbie (Jim) Anderson of Edelstein, Matt (Diana) Anderson of Peoria, and Mark Anderson of St. Louis; six nieces and nephews: Keri (Nick Cream) Anderson, Andy Anderson, Jeff (Tiffany Engel) Anderson, Ryleigh Quinn, Annalee Anderson, Jasmine Anderson, Nick Smith and Jesse Juarez. He also has many friends at his residence (Gateway at River City) who will miss him dearly.

We celebrate the life of our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend, even as we mourn his loss. We take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with our mother and father.

A private graveside service officiated by Rev. Dr. Randy Williams will be held this Wednesday with a celebration of life service to be held when it is safe to gather. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel has handled arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Youth Ministry Fund at Glen Oak Christian Church in Peoria, The Gorilla Organization, or the American Kidney Fund.
