She was born December 31, 1928 in Springfield, IL to Guy and Grace (McKinney) Bales. She married Arthur E. Johnson Sr., on February 24, 1950 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1989. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Martha Mettel and one granddaughter, Jessica.
Surviving are her four children, Gene (Linda) Johnson of Germantown Hills, Steve (Michelle) Johnson of Acworth, GA, Karen (Neil) Klosterman of Polk City, IA, and Kim (Tom) Foster of Marietta, GA; 8 grandchildren, Devon, Seth, Haley, Brady, Kelley, Kyle, Courtney and Whitney; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Millie worked in the office at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Peoria and then later worked as a Receptionist in the business office at Methodist Medical Center until retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Cathedral and volunteered for the Red Cross, St. Jude, and the Methodist Medical Ambulatory Service, as well as being a past member of the Eastern Star in Peoria. Millie also enjoyed making ceramics and painting.
A private family service will be held and burial will be at Elmwood Township Cemetery in Elmwood.. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
