

He was born October 14, 1933 in Princeton to George and Anna (Huffaker) Sowers. Paul married Judith "Judi" Michael on June 8, 1956 in Sycamore, she passed away on September 12, 2023.
Paul is also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his two children, Michael (Julie) Sowers of East Peoria and Jane Sowers of Peoria; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Paul began his journey of service in the United States Navy. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University, attended Bradley University, and finally completed his master’s degree at Western Illinois University.
Paul devoted his professional life to shaping the lives of students, most recently serving as Principal at Mossville Grade School.
He was a longtime member of First Federated Church in Peoria and a proud Freemason, having been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, joining the organization in 1955.
Those who knew Paul will remember his ability to connect with anyone he met. Whether it was a neighbor, a former student, or a stranger in passing, Paul could always find common ground.
He loved sports, especially baseball and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
More than anything, he cherished family, finding his greatest joy in the traditional family gatherings often hosted at the home he shared with his wife, Judi.
Funeral service for Paul will occur on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation being held one-hour prior to service at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home, Peoria. Burial will conclude immediately following services at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
