Phillip "Scott" Lawrence, 61, of Washington formerly of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 peacefully at his residence. He was born May of 1963 in Peoria, son of Joseph Donald Lawrence and Margaret Ann (McCulloch) Lawrence.
Scott is survived by his mother, Margaret Ann (McCulloch) Lawrence of Peoria; and his soul mate, Sandra M. Lee of Washington. Surviving siblings sister, Michelle M. (Lawrence) and Alan Funk; brother, Michael J. and Margaret A. Lawrence; brother, Jason C. and Laura K. Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Donald Lawrence; brother, Donald Anthony "Tony" Lawrence; maternal and paternal grandparents; and niece, Ashley Marie Funk.
Scott was a graduate of Woodruff High School, Class of 1981 and was Co-op Student of the Year.
He worked as a machinist for the H. Felde Tool & Machine Company in Peoria for 44 years.
Scott loved fishing (Mom’s good luck charm “Catch a whale!”), hunting with his father, playing poker with family and friends. He loved NHRA drag racing at the Grand Nationals in Indianapolis and attended every year since age 17. His favorite sport was football, go Bears! He appreciated Mopar and other vintage cars especially road runners. As a child he would build and create his own model cars. A cold beer and a fresh brewed cup coffee were his preferred adult beverages. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. A generous gentleman. And a man who projected love and respect for his family and friends will be missed and never forgotten.
Join us in Scott's celebration of life service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. His celebration of life gathering where friends and family can visit will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Wednesday June 26 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Inurnment will follow service in Parkview Cemetery.
