She was born on January 8, 1938 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany to Gottfried and Christine (Engel) Decker.
She married William "Bill" Mueller on September 15, 1962 in Bloomington. He survives along with daughter, Heidi Renee Mueller of St. Louis, MO; son, Kurt Mueller of Peoria; granddaughter, Jordan Mueller of Peoria; great-grandchildren, John and Jade Dahmm; brother, Walter Decker of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Waltraud “Vi” Friedrich.
Renee came to the United States from Germany in 1953. She received her associate degree from Illinois State University where she was a member of Gamma Phi Circus (Gymnastics). Her husband, Bill worked for Caterpillar for 36 years and they lived in various places including Peoria, Washington, D.C., Houston, TX and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Renee loved learning and enjoyed reading National Geographic, flowers, birds, nature and exotic animals. She also loved to travel and learning about other cultures. Renee was a talented knitter and was well known for her cooking skills and intricate baked goods. She was creative and anything she touched was made beautiful. She looked forward to her daily newspaper and keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church, with a one hour prior visitation. Fr. Daniel McShane will officiate and entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital and American Cancer Society.
