Rita Kay Adkins

Rita Kay Adkins, 72, of Peoria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on April 17, 1952 in Peoria, a daughter of J. Brown and Imogene (Isabelle) Brown. Rita married Dennis A. Adkins on April 3, 1976 in Peoria and they were blessed with 48 years of marriage. He survives.

She is also survived by her daughter, Carrie (Sam) Sauder of Peoria; three grandchildren, Kennedi, Boston and Colette Sauder all of Peoria; She also had four brothers and two sisters.

Rita last worked as an administrative assistant for Glen Oak Elementary School in Peoria, retiring in 2021 after 15 years. Previously she worked at WABCO and Holiday Inn.

She was a devout Christian and a member of Riverside Community Church in Peoria. The only thing Rita loved more than her family was Jesus. She had a strong faith in the Lord which is how she lived out her life. Rita adored her grandchildren, loved spending time with them and spoiled them any chance she could. You could always find her on the sidelines cheering them on in their activities.

Rita's graveside service will be at 11:00 am Friday, October 25, 2024 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Pastor John King will officiate. Her visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria.
