He was born December 26, 1942, in East St. Louis, MO, to Gregory and Ardell (Wierscheum) McCarthy. They precede him in death. He married Sharon Ellis on June 26, 1965, in Big Bend, WI. She survives.
Also surviving are: Children: Dr. Christopher (Dr. Heather) McCarthy of Peoria, IL and Cinnamon (Bill) Pavin of McHenry, IL; Siblings: Kenneth (Monica) McCarthy of St. Louis, MO, Mary (Chris) Bettlach of Peoria, IL; Six Grandchildren: Mary, Rachel, Catherine, Will, Bryan, and Sara; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Robert was an entrepreneur, owning several manufacturing businesses. He owned Rieco-Titan Products, Inc. and also Vindee Industries, Inc., both located in Frankfort, IL. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology, where he earned his degrees. Robert was also a member of the Illinois Air National Guard, stationed at O’Hare International Airport. In the guard he served as a cryptologist.
He was born and raised in the Catholic faith.
Robert loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed nature.
Cremation rites will be accorded, private services will be held at a later date.
Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton has been entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial Donations in honor of Robert may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Judes Hospital, Midwest Affiliate.
