Robert Mecum

He was born on July 3, 1948, in Princeton, IL, to Eugene and Gladys Mecum.

He graduated from Western High School and attended Midstate College.

He was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for more than 40 years.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (Backes), in December of 2005.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amy Mecum Durant (Todd) of Duncanville, TX; mother, Gladys Behrens Mecum of Buda, IL; father, Eugene Mecum of Cape Girardeau, MO; brother, Wesley Mecum of Kenosha, WI; sister, Margaret Mecum of Pekin, IL; brother, John Mecum (Marylou) of Buda; brother, James Mecum (Kathy) of Buda; sisters, Patricia Schnurbusch (Dean) of Pocahontas, IL, and Gloria Barnes of Buda; stepdaughters, Jacqueline (Mike) Seed of Peoria, Diana Williams of Pekin, Annette (Greg) Lane of Peoria and Tammy (James) Meyer of Mapleton; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria. Visitation will be an hour prior to services, also at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
