
Robert F. “Bob” Opperman, age 86, of Beverly Hills, FL, formerly of Peoria, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. He was born July 24, 1930 in Peoria to Louis and Mathilda (Maikranz) Opperman. He first married Evelyn Dose on Nov. 22, 1952 in McNabb, IL. She passed away Feb. 27, 2007 in Beverly Hills, FL. He later married Jean Gerani on Aug. 13, 2015 in Beverly Hills. She survives along with Bob’s three sons: Paul Opperman of Georgia, Timothy and Mark Opperman both of Peoria, one daughter, Laurie (Daniel) Greenleaf of East Peoria, one sister, Jeanine (Earl) Franks of East Peoria, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife, one son, Fred Opperman and one grandson, Adam Opperman. Bob worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Peoria and later Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, FL. At Our Lady of Grace he served as a Eucharistic Minister for 16 years. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Air National Guard. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Fr. David Richardson will officiate. Additional visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 9 to 9:45 am. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
