
Peoria – Russel W. Wolford, 95, of Iola, Wisconsin, formerly a resident of Peoria and Brimfield, IL for 91 years, passed away Wednesday September 8, 2010 at Iola Living Assistance in Iola, WI. He was born July 3, 1915 in Hanna City, IL to Henry and Mina Letterman Wolford. Russel graduated from Manuel Training High School in 1933. Russel married Alys Louise Nixon on Thanksgiving Day November 26, 1936 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are his wife of Iola, Wisconsin; two daughters: Marisue (Lyle) Nauman of Custer, WI and Sharon (Thomas) Wotovich of Chicago, IL; a brother: Willis (Jeanette) Wolford of Peoria, IL; two sisters: Viola Kimzey of Peoria, IL and Lucille Betts of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Russel was preceded in death by two brothers: Orville and Harold Wolford.
Russel was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII from 1943 to 1945 as a radar operator. After his time in the service, he returned to work for Hiram Walker Distillery for 41 years. Russel retired from the Planning and Ordering office in 1977.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 14, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. View Russel’s life story at www.Davison-Fulton.com
