Ruth E. Stewart, 74, of Peoria passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Accolade of Peoria. She was born August 27, 1948 in Peoria to James and Ruth (Boland) Lowery, she married Jerry Stewart on February 19, 1966. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2021.
She was also preceded in death by her three sisters Nonnie Smith, Cathy Behrll and Kimberly Lowery.
Ruth is survived by her children, Penny (Randy) Smith of Pekin, Jerry (Trish) Stewart of Pekin, Traci (Ronnie) Price of Peoria, Amanda Meyers of Peoria and Carrie Smith of Carlock; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Nancy Rohrer of Peoria, John (Joy) Lowery of Chillicothe, Jim (Pam) Lowery of Glen Ellyn and Tom Lowery of Rock Island.
Ruth was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church of Peoria, and taught Sunday school many years there. She went back to college later in life and attended Methodist College of Nursing where she got her degree as a Registered Nurse. She then went on to work at Buehler home from 1994 to 2010, she also worked at Lutheran Hillside Village, and Sharon Pines before her retirement.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Services will take place at Christ Lutheran Church following another visitation from 10-11 on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Burial at Lutheran Cemetery of Peoria will follow services.
