Virginia Mae Aberle joined her husband, Lawrence Aberle, Sr. September 29, 2022 in a place prepared for her just like in her life here on earth on Southport Road. She spent 31 years missing her sweet love. He had been telling her to come on but we all know how stubborn she was. She made the journey home safely surrounded by her daughter, Pamela and husband William Horan, Sr. along with her son, Lawrence Aberle, Jr. With her brief illness and angelic nature friends and family flowed inside our home.
The Aberle/Horan family would like to thank our honorary sister/daughter Trish Wooten who camped out beside Virginia's bedside daily. Trish made sure Virginia's entire family along with Lee Mikuta were fed every single night. Everyone should be so blessed to have friends like Trish and Lee.
Virginia was born in Credit River, Scott County, Minnesota on August 2, 1926 at home to Bernadine Cassellius and Joseph Slama. Her Daddy knew right away knew his baby girl was going to be his shadow wherever he went. He lovingly nicknamed her Speck/Gin and she instantly became his favorite.
Virginia attended school in Minnesota and Illinois. But one morning her life changed. Her left ear began to hurt and her parents drove her to Illinois to have surgery on her ear. She stayed with her oldest brother Wilfred and attended school. The day she came back to school a snowball found the side of her head and she had another years worth of doctors to attend to.
Virginia will be missed by her daughter Pamela Horan, whom she made her home . They would go to lunch and the dollar store and come back home and decorate with all the goodies they found for the day. She always made sure her son in law, Bill had enough treats. He adored Mama and she adored him.
Virginia leaves behind the grandson that stole her heart from the moment she laid eyes on him, Lawrence Aberle 3rd. They truly enjoyed each other's company. They fished and planted flowers and chatted about yesterday's that were meaningful to them. In her eyes, he was hers. Then came along Little Miss Kathleen Burns. There is something so endearing to watch a Grandmother sit at a kids table and have hot tea at high noon across from Kathleen and her many stuffed animals and dolls. Lawrence and Kathleen blessed her with 4 Great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Connor, Owen along with Kylee Jean and their spices Jessica Aberle whom became her honorary granddaughter and Benjamin Burns who became her scratch off lottery ticket buddy.
Virginia leaves behind, Judith Francis of Marion, Illinois, Florence White of Peoria, Illinois, Lawrence Aberle, Jr. Of Bartonville, Illinois, Christine Sams of Chillicothe, Illinois and her favorite daughter, Mrs. Pamela and William Horan, Sr. of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Her brother Donald and Maey Slama, Sandstone, Minnesota and John Roger Slama of Bellevue, Illinois.
The Aberle/Horan family would like to thank Southeast Georgia Health System, ER, Dr Margaret Carter and her team, Dianne and Carol for the everyday phone calls and messages. Lauren Alban for treating my mom like her grandma. And Regina for her specialized care in the ICU. We would like to thank Golden Isles Hospice for their compassionate care during her brief illness.
Virginia was preceded in death by her oldest child, Beverly Aberle and her husband, Lawrence Aberle, Sr.
She leaves behind 24 grandkids and 17 great-grandchildren. Lonnie Aberle stole her heart a long time ago along with her granddaughter, Amy Schultz.
Her quote...
"There is no greater love than a grandchild."
The family will have a graveside service 11:00 am Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria and will have a luncheon at the Eagles after the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
Online condolences may be shared with Virginia's family at www.davison-fulton.com.
