Virginia Faye Hamilton Post

Born in White County on June 14, 1943 to John and Alma (Reedy) Hamilton, who preceded her in death, she is survived by her sister, Jan (Hamilton) Owens of Brighton, IL.

Virginia met Barry L. Post of Peoria, IL at Anderson College, Anderson, IN and they married on July 5, 1964 in Washington Park, IL; he survives. She is also survived by her children, John (Jenniffer) Post of Peoria Heights, Karen (Kevin) Hart of Peoria, Tammy Post of Chillicothe, Stephen (Anne) Post of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Paula (Manny) Diaz of Anderson, IN; 10 grandchildren, Kaytlin Post, Eli Wright, Emma Hutchinson, Sydney Crawford, Kaleb Hart, Justin Post, Kristyn Hart, Audrey Post, Luke Post, and Alex Post; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; and multiple step-great-grandchildren.

Faith and Family were the heart of Virginia’s life. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Hawley Community Church of God in Peoria, IL (formerly First Church of God) and the Maxwell Road Church of God in Bartonville, IL; she served as secretary for both churches and custodian at Mt. Hawley.

Virginia’s family were the main focus of her life. Hard work and play came from her heart. She loved reading with her family, watching sporting events with her children, attending theater and musical events where they performed, family dinners, Cubs/Cardinal’s Baseball and the University of Illinois Basketball.

Virginia’s visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Mt. Hawley Community Church in Peoria. An additional visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2024 at church. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2024 also at her church. Pastor Darnell Starks will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hawley Community Church.
