Willard Dean Powell Jr.

Willard Dean “Boog” Powell, JR., 56, of Trivoli, IL passed away at his home, after a brief illness, on June 12, 2014, surrounded by his family. Willard was born August 25, 1957 in Peoria to Willard and Rosalie (Barra) Powell. He married Penny Alice Taylor on July 22, 1991 in Springfield, IL. She survives. Also surviving are: Daughters; Taylor Marie of Pekin, IL, Stefannie Ann (Shar) of Springfield, MO, Ardianne Elizabeth (Mickey) of Pekin, IL, Grandchildren: Anna Marie, Isabelle Noel, Elizabeth Michelle, all of Trivoli, IL, and Baylee Alice of Pekin, IL, Brother; Michael (Lois) Powell of Palm Harbor, FL, Sisters; Jane Marie Brewer of Canton, IL and Rose Ann (Frank) Moss of Dallas, TX. He is preceded in death by his Parents, and Brother: George S. Powell. Willard attended grade school at St. Bernard’s in Peoria, and graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria. He attended The Trivoli United Methodist Church. Willard was a delivery driver for over thirty years, last working for Wirtz Beverage Illinois. He loved to go train watching in Galesburg with his brothers. You could often hear him say “It’s always a good day if you see a train!” Willard was an avid Green Bay Packers and San Francisco Giants fan. He was a member of the Christian Athletic Association Softball League for over 20 years, where he was a coach and player. He also loved gardening and doing yard work. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with those who meant most to him; his family. A Funeral Service for Willard will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, in Peoria. The Rev. Bob DeBolt will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Trivoli Cemetery.
