Beloved wife, devoted Mother, proud Nana, sister and loyal friend.
Born in Šiauliai, Lithuania, Aldona passed away peacefully at her home in Peterborough, ON.
She immigrated to Canada with her family in June of 1948. She went to school in Ontario’s tobacco belt area and graduated from McMaster University, where she met the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Bob Archer.
Aldona’s first career was as a teacher of Latin and French in Chatham & Oshawa high schools. Her next career was raising her two daughters “ the girls.”
A true entrepreneur at heart, Aldona and Bob built Friendly Fires, a business that became both a family legacy and a source of immense pride. She was delighted to see it continue through the next generation, knowing that her spirit of hard work, creativity, and care lived on.
Aldona enjoyed playing Scrabble, badminton and snooker, annual live theatre productions and casinos, drinking hot water with lemon, reading and daily walks. With her boundless energy she travelled to over 85 countries, was kind, put others first, was a great cook and all around amazing person who was loved by many.
She is survived by her husband Bob, her children Natalie and Lorraine (Alex), sister Maria, brother Algis (Violet) and grandchildren Olivia, Noah, Sebastian and Sequoia. Predeceased by her mother Veronica and father John.
Celebration of Life to be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home at 840 Armor Road in Peterborough, ON on Tuesday Nov. 11th, 2025 at 2:00pm-4:00pm
