Passed away peacefully Canterbury Gardens Retirement Residence on Saturday December 6, 2025 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Frank Winkworth. Loving mother of Marilyn Winkworth and Brian Winkworth (Elva). Dear grandmother of Steven (Brigitte), Michael, Amy (Will) and Andrew. Great grandmother of Mya, Frank, Finn and Violet. Dear sister of Clare Dumont (David – deceased) and Jack Boyd (Pauline).
Mom and Dad met while on holiday in the Eastern Townships of Quebec in the early 1950s. They were married in 1953 in Montreal and welcomed Marilyn a year later. Brian rounded out the family sixteen months after that. We lived in the same house in Pointe Claire until 1973. Mom and Dad were both community minded and volunteered in various ways to make that great community even better.
Mom was a stay at home mom whose aim was to provide a happy, welcoming home for family and friends, in which she excelled. She was immensely proud of her family, cherishing every milestone, every gathering and every moment shared. Her greatest joy in life came from watching her children and grandchildren grow, supporting them with unwavering love, and celebrating the people they became. Her family was her heart, her purpose and her greatest accomplishment. We will miss her every day.
Our family’s greatest enjoyment was spending as much time as possible at the cottage on Lake Massawippi with the Fletcher family. So many good times, so many happy memories. Mom made many new friends after moving with Dad to Peterborough. She enjoyed playing bridge, euchre and bowling.
Life was good at Canterbury Gardens. She made lasting friendships while living in her garden home. Thank you so much to all the staff for making her last eight years so comfortable and rewarding. We appreciate all that you do every day.
As per Alva’s request cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will take place at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockkaye.com
