May 18, 1949 - December 21, 2025
It is with a deep sense of sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, cherished Grandmother and dear friend during her favourite time of the year, that brought family and friends closer together.
She passed peacefully with family by her side on December 21st, 2025 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. She was loved and cared for by the Angels on Mclaughlin Bay and Lakeview of AgeCare Samac in Oshawa for her final years.
She was not only a loving and devoted mother to her girls, Tracy Carter (Jeff) and Terri Lingard (Leo), but she was especially proud when she became a grandmother to her four grandchildren, Rylee, Ashlee, Hedley, and Hayden. They quickly became her pride and joy and she spoiled them at any opportunity.
Barb was born May 18th, 1949, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to the late Albert and Mable Brydges. The fourth of six children, Barb is predeceased by Elizabeth 'Betty' Lamming (l. Gordon), Albert 'Bert' (l. Rhonda), Robert 'Bob' (l. Kerren) and survived by her two younger brothers Bruce (Janet) and Barry (Ida). She lived, went to school, and worked in the Soo until shortly after she got married. She started her family when she moved to Port Hope to start a new journey and new job. She put herself through college twice to become an RN at Lakeridge Oshawa where she was a dedicated and compassionate nurse for many decades. As with her patients, she showed the same love, laughter and kindness to her many close friends, always lending a helpful hand or an ear when needed.
Barb took pleasure in the simple things in life, like her love of painting, tending to her roses, a trip out to camp at Trout Lake or a quiet night with her tv dramas and a can of coke. She loved country music and loved to sing along even when she didn't know the words and dance like no one was watching. She was a kind, spirited, warm hearted, strong, independent woman who was a guardian to many on earth and will now be a guardian angel to many from above.
Mom, you left us beautiful memories,
your love is still our guide.
Although we can not see you,
you are always by our side.
Goodbyes are not forever,
goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean we will miss you,
until we meet again.
Barb is in the care of Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.comstockkaye.com for the family.
