Barbara Doreen Machin Thompson

Peacefully, with dignity & grace at Hospice Peterborough on Sunday, January 19, 2025 in her 98th year. Doreen, dear wife of Jack (d. 2014) for 63 wonderful years. Dear mother of Vicki (Lorne) Allen, Glenn (Karen), Lori (Brian Laird) & Bruce (Krista). Adored Grandma to Luke, Carlie (Ryan), Jeremy (Britni), Jordan (Kelli), Jennifer (Dave), Sarah (Dane), Jake (Ashley), Sydney (Adam), Stephanie (Matthew), & Kyle (Catherine). Great-Grandma to Skylar, Ryder, Addison, Emma, Roman, William, Davina, Leyla, Jackson, Ethan, Maya, Weston, Avery, Rémi, & Maxime. Daughter of the late Ted & Irene Machin & sister to Jim (d. 2024). Doreen cherished the many family get togethers & her friends at Summit Terrace. Generous & caring, she was a stay-at-home Mom and was active in her church since joining in 1958. She was a golfer, lawn bowler & curler well into her 80’s. A member of the Peterborough Curling Club since 1967, she served as President of the Ladies Section. The family would like to thank the kind & caring doctors, nurses & volunteers at PRHC ICU, PRHC Palliative Care Unit & Hospice Peterborough. Arrangements entrusted to Ashburnham Funeral Home. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough or Northminster United Church Memorial Fund. A private family service will be held. Friends are invited to an informal drop in celebration of her life at Summit Terrace, Mustang Room, 1802 Cherryhill Rd., Peterborough, on Saturday January 25 from 2-4pm.
