With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Cheryl Pearce, 68, of Peterborough, on Monday, May 19, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Leamington in 1957 to Darryl (2008) and Marie (2013) Pearce (née Jones), Cheryl lived a life defined by love, generosity, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her siblings: Ken Pearce (Nannette Stevens), Darlene Penney (Ken), and Bob Pearce (Chris Wood). She was predeceased by her brother Roger Pearce (2005) (Wendy).
Cheryl was the proud and devoted mother of Jamie Procter, Jody Procter, Kara Parcells (Dave), and Shawna Procter. Her greatest joy came from being “Nan” to Justice, Keegan, Mykaila, Jacob (2005), Quinn, Colton, Grace, and Boyd. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved fur-grandbabies, Ollie and Sadie.
Cheryl had a gift for finding beauty in the everyday—whether in her garden, her cozy home, or a thoughtfully chosen thrifted treasure. She loved the thrill of a good bingo game, but her most cherished moments were those spent surrounded by family and friends.
Her kindness extended far beyond her own family. Through her work with the foster care and Community Living systems, Cheryl opened her heart and home to many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice Peterborough for their compassionate care during Cheryl’s final days. Memorial donations to Hospice Peterborough in Cheryl’s memory would be deeply appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 1:00pm at the Peterborough Navy Club, 24 Whitlaw Street, Peterborough, ON. Following the service, guests are invited to stay for refreshments and light snacks as we gather to remember Cheryl.
"She's a sparrow when she's broken,
But she's an eagle when she flies.
Oh, bless her, Lord—
She's an eagle when she flies."
