Clara Lillian Lockington

After 96 years of a wonderful and engaged life, Clara died at Fairhaven on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Clara is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Mary Saunders, and her brothers Gord and Ken Saunders. The love of her life, Stew, died in 2013, completing what was, for her and her family, a ‘marriage for the ages” of 69 years. Their remarkable and loving relationship was a model and constant reminder of the values of family. Their four children, Bill (Gail), Doug (Barb), Bryan (Bonnie) and Beth (Michael), together with Stew and Clara’s eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (the light of their lives) fondly remember, with admiration, the everlasting relationships and guidance they experienced and shared with their parents and grandparents. Ever considerate, gracious, and always interested in those with whom she shared her life, Clara was a friend in the truest sense of the word to so many whose lives she touched. A committed volunteer for years at Civic Hospital and latterly PRHC, and respecting her admiration for the work of Hospice Peterborough, Clara’s family would appreciate if in memoriams were extended to these organizations. Visitation will be at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, on Thursday, June 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of life for Clara will be held at Westdale United Church, 1509 Sherbrooke Street in Peterborough at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, June 30th .
