With deep sorrow, the family of Cora Isobel Edgar announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Caressant Care in Lindsay, in her 94th year.
Beloved wife of William “Bill” Edgar, with whom she joyfully celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this past July. Loving mother of Carol Debenham (the late Jim), Gail Kraft (Bob), Mary Rhodes (Kim), and Diane Edgar (Gary Ayotte).
Cora was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to a large and loving family, including E.J. (Amanda), Corrie (Marija), Michele, Dustin (Emily), Shauna, Brandon, Nicole (Jason), Konrad (Sheridan), and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her siblings Hazel, Edna, Jean, and John, Cora is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Cora was the Chief Financial Officer and former part-owner of Lucky Strike Bait Works, a business she and Bill ran with dedication prior to retirement. She was a determined and creative woman, known for her many talents and interests. Her passion for gardening was reflected in the beauty of her vibrant, well-tended gardens.
She and Bill enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Florida, creating cherished memories together. Cora also played a vital role in welcoming Cambodian and Vietnamese immigrants to Peterborough, helping them settle into their new lives and learn to read and speak English. Her quiet generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on many.
The family will receive guests at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, on Tuesday, November 18th from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. James Emily Church, 945 Frank Hill Road, on Wednesday, November 19th at 1:30 p.m. Following a reception, interment will take place at Rosemount
Memorial Gardens.
