July 21, 1946 – June 9, 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of David (Buck) Robert Darwin on June 9, 2026, at the age of 79. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
David was the beloved and devoted husband of Betty, whose love and partnership were the foundation of a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a proud and loving father to Meaghan (Rick) Fallis and Michael (Meghan) Darwin and nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family.
He was a deeply treasured grandfather to Michaela (Ryan), Jonah (Cass), Olivia (Corey), and Nathan. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments, always offering unwavering support, encouragement, and love.
David is survived by his brother, Jack Darwin (Lorna). He was predeceased by his parents, Elsie and Fred Darwin, and sister and brother-in-law Anne and Bob Mann.
David will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tom (deceased) and Joan Crowley, Jack (deceased) and Isabel Crowley, and Vince and Gloria (deceased) Crowley, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
David was especially grateful for the enduring friendships he shared with Jeff and Krys Edwards and Paul and Karen Chimenti, whose companionship brought much laughter and happiness throughout the years.
A dedicated and hardworking man, David spent many years employed with Outboard Marine and Fisher Gauge, where he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues through his strong work ethic and kind nature.
In retirement, David embraced life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed serving as an usher at the Peterborough Memorial Centre for the Peterborough Petes and Lakers games, where he loved being part of the community and connecting with fellow fans. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and looked forward to his vacations in Florida, where many wonderful memories were made with family and friends.
Above all else, David was a family man. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. He led by example, teaching the values of kindness, loyalty, hard work, and generosity. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and the love that will continue to surround all who knew him.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff of Extendicare Peterborough for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to David. Their support, friendship, and genuine concern brought comfort not only to David but to his entire family, and for that we will be forever grateful.
In keeping with David's spirit, memorial donations may be made to Extendicare Peterborough or to the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton in his memory. Donations can be made online at https://alzheimer.ca/pklnh/.
