1950-2025
With heavy hearts the family of Devon Diane Wilkins announces her peaceful passing on Nov. 4, 2025 in Peterborough at the age of 74.
Devon was predeceased by her parents, James and Thelma Wilkins of Highwater, Quebec, as well as her infant brother James and sisters Lillian, Lorraine, Barbara, Wilda and Shirley. She leaves to mourn her sisters Frances and Gwen, brother Rodney, best friend and "sister by choice" Barbara Robinson as well as the rest of her Peterborough family, her faithful canine companion Jackson, adoring nieces and nephews and a vast network of friends and associates.
Devon faced challenges from day one, but defied all the odds with a passion and positivity that inspired everyone around her. Author, journalist, poet, musician, radio host, ham radio operator, old-time radio expert, podcaster, massage therapist, reflexologist, Devon approached all her pursuits with unflagging creative energy and compassion, inspired by her devout Christian faith. As a tireless advocate for the rights of the disabled, Devon took on leadership roles in organizations such as The Canadian Council of the Blind, Guide Dog Users of Canada, the Lions Club, March of Dimes and others.
A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24 at the Grace United Church, Peterborough.
