Dolores passed away peacefully in her 95th year on September 24th, 2026, in Hospice Peterborough. In the past several years, she regularly expressed how fortunate she felt to have led such a fulfilling life, with her husband Max, family, and treasured friends. She valued her career as a manager with Statistics Canada, delighted in traveling with Max, and was devoted to her spiritual life.
Predeceased by her husband Max, Dolores leaves behind a legacy of love for her family, son Stephen (Nina), daughter Linda (Dan) and grandchildren Candice, Garrett (Grace), Stephanie, Alexa, Lindsay, Brendan, Chelsea (Geoff), and great-grandchildren Angelina, Arianna, and Frankie.
Dolores had a zest for life. She was independent, organized, decisive, and always taking the lead in life. She carried herself with such elegance and was loving beyond measure.
She was a wonderful cook and baker and truly earned her title as “Delicious Dolores”. Max and Dolores loved to host dinner parties and many family gatherings. Her pies were ‘top-drawer’ and enjoyed by everyone.
Dolores was a true artist and had many talents. Her creative energy was expressed through knitting, crocheting, macrame, tole painting, crewel embroidery, sewing and more. She discovered her joy of oil painting in her early 60s and over the next 30 years created a large collection of exquisite artwork. She took great pleasure in gifting her paintings to all the special people in her life. We are all so fortunate to have this beautiful connection to her, keeping the memory of our beloved matriarch alive in our hearts and homes.
Dolores was incredibly thoughtful and took great care in remembering birthdays and special occasions, and all opportunities to express her deep love.
Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She belonged to St. Martin’s parish in Ennismore for close to 40 years. She attended daily mass and was dedicated to prayer and reading scripture. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League volunteering in the community and generously supported many charities that spoke to her heart.
Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to shine in the lives she touched and the hearts that will always carry her memory forward.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still missed and forever dear.”
