WW II Paratrooper
Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at Ross Memorial Hospital at the age of 100 years. Lovingly remembered by his son Steven Wiles and daughter-in-law Linda.
Born to Russell and Pearl Wiles, Ernie spent his childhood in York Township and later Omemee. A proud WW II Veteran, Ernie served as a paratrooper and was part of the group that liberated Holland. He was honoured to return to Holland many times and recently for the 80th anniversary in 2025.
The family’s fondest memories were of times spend together at the cottage near Burleigh Falls. A real go-getter, Ernie ran his own printing business. For fun, he enjoyed playing sports, scuba diving and travel. In his later years Ernie joined the Legion and began to share his memories of the war.
Private arrangements have been made, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.comstockkaye.com
