Peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 103. Beloved husband of the late Gaye Geertje Sandstra. Survived by his dear sister Maatje Tuininga (late Sytze) in Holland and predeceased by his brothers Pete (Willy), Freerk (late Klaaske), Ed (late Brenda), Gerrit (late Klaaske), and John (Lucy). Lovingly remembered by generations of nieces, and nephews.
Fred will be remembered for his strong will and determination. He was a spirited and fiercely independent. His lively personality will be missed. He will also be missed by his fellow Skip-Bo players and friends at Kawartha Heights Retirement Living.
The family will receive guests at Cephas Christian Reformed Church, 220 Goodfellow Road, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 12-1 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm. Afterwards a luncheon reception and time of fellowship will be held at the Church. Fred will be laid to rest in a private service at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.
