It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Irvine Mosher on September 3, 2026 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) in Peterborough, Ontario, just shy of his 91st birthday. He was recently predeceased by Mabel "Maizie" (née Scott), his loving wife of over 60 years. He is survived by his loving daughter Janet, brother Everett Mosher (Mona) in Sackville, New Brunswick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Irvine and Nellie (née Marr) Mosher, George was born in Sussex, New Brunswick and raised on a dairy farm. After graduating from Sussex Composite High School, he went to Teachers’ College then earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Education from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. George and Mabel met and married while teaching in Saint John, New Brunswick then moved to Peterborough in 1967 where they both taught at Adam Scott CVI. George taught school for 34 years from a one-room country school to Crestwood Secondary School, where he retired from in 1992. He was acutely aware of the loss of wildlife species and variety within surviving livestock breeds so he was a member of Heritage Breeds Canada for over 35 years. George was an avid absorber of knowledge, so he read many different newspapers and magazines along with many books. He enjoyed seeing the grand places in North America like Banff, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Zion Park and enjoyed long conversations, sharing thoughts and opinions on politics and news. His love and devotion to Mabel was primary and Janet was his pride and joy. George will be deeply missed by Janet, his extended family, friends and neighbours. Thank you to the staff at Royal Gardens and PRHC for your support and care.
