Gladys Marie Bathgate

March 16, 1914 – April 5, 2011

Gladys owned and managed Birchmere Resort in Orillia, Ontario with her husband Ernie. Long time member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church (Peterborough) Quilting Club and the Fall Supper Cooking Team. Past member of the Orillia Quota Club. - Gladys passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in her 97th year with her adored family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Ernest Bathgate for 53 years. Loving mother of Robert (Lynn). Dear Nana of Aaron (Helen), Benjamin (Larissa) and Becky Muir (Patrick). Treasured great-grandmother of Sam. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Mary (nee Shield) and Herbert Smith, sister Muriel Faulkner and infant brother George Smith. Visitation will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, on Friday, April 8, from 6-9 pm and on Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 10:30 am in the Chapel. Interment will take place at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough. In memory of Gladys, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, the Community Care Access Centre of Peterborough, or the P.R.H.C. Foundation.
