

Gordon Windrem was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Gordon will be remembered as a very hardworking, trustworthy person.
He was the son of Jack and Ethel (nee Boyd) Windrem.
Gordon was one of four boys: Boyd (Olive), John “Wilson” (Gladys), and Neil (Emmaline). Although Gordon attended Elementary school, his most valued education came in the form of self learning of farming practices.
Gord's main hobby was farming and talking about farming. He was always looking for a better way of doing thing. He also liked dancing. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Throughout his life, Gordon was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Gord was a member of Victoria co. Soils & Crops, Innovative Farmers, Bethel United Church, as well as Emily Presbyterian Cemetery Board.
Gordon’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Church, then Bethel United Church.
Gordon enjoyed traveling with Jean on vacations. It was a chance for them to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Florida, the West Coast, East Coast, and a Caribean Cruise.
Gord was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. Gordon's first dog was Peggy, then came Pippy.
Simply stated, Gordon was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gordon leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Gordon Russell Windrem.

Peacefully, on Friday, October 31, 2014 at PRHC in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Jean Windrem (nee Lowes) for 60 years. Loving father of Glenn (Jinny), Terry (Janice), Mary Anne White (Chuck), and Kevin. Proud grandfather of Jennifer, Cindy (Patrick), Hilary, Scott, Tyler, and Brianna; and great grandfather of Alicia, Victoria, Aiden and Zackary. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Ethel Windrem, and his siblings Boyd (Olive), John “Wilson” (Gladys), and Neil (survived by Emmaline). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Family and friends will remember a hardworking, dedicated family man, who took pleasure from tending the land and producing quality crops. Special thanks to Dr. Jeff Neville, Dr. Miller, the nurses and staff at PRHC Palliative Care and B4. The family will receive friends at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at BETHEL UNITED CHURCH, 90 Bethel Road, C.K.L.- Omemee, on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kim Falls and Rev.Verna Windrem officiating. Interment at Emily Presbyterian Cemetery, County Road 10. A reception will follow at Bethel United Church.
