April 22nd, 1934 - October 11th, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harry at the young age of 92 at Peterborough hospice with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side. Pre-deceased by his wife Barbara (nee Elston), his parents Fred and Phyllis Mutton (nee Darling), and the beloved Aunts, Marion, Muriel McRae, (late Rod), Helen and Hazel. Survived by his sister Shirley Tobin (late Leo), stepdaughter Jane Daniel (late Oggie), son Rick Mutton (Gina), and daughter Janet Mills (Tim), granddaughter Jackie Mutton and grandson Jacob Mutton, (Anny) and Jackie's mother Doreen Boville, also Harry's extended family including his nieces and nephews. Harry was a proud member of the military both in the Amy and the Air Force. After his service, he went on to be a prison guard, both in the federal and provincial systems. Harry loved his Toronto Blue Jays and his Toronto Maple leafs. He was a huge supporter of the Salvation Army. He also loved a good game of chess. He was a kind, loving, generous and gentle man. He never met a stranger or an enemy. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to hospice Peterborough. We would also like to thank the staff at Empress Gardens for providing care with love for the past 2 years. The family would also encourage those who are interested to prepare, a small note or letter in a sealed envelope that will accompany Harry on his his next journey. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12th with a brief visitation on Friday, November 13th at 10:00 a.m. with a service and reception to follow. At 1:00 p.m. he will leave for his final resting place in Shiloh cemetery as so many of his family before him have done.
