Hazel Edre Muriel Harvey

Hazel was born April 2, 1931 in Bathurst, New Brunswick to a family of 10 children. Predeceased by loving husband Al, Mom and Pop Smith and nine siblings: Ella, Edith, Ruth, Marguerite, Ruby, Molly, Walter, Aubrey, and Roy.

Will be missed by Lorraine, Ruth and Barry, Brian and Carol and grandkids and great grandkids of the Harvey family and surviving sisters-in-law Wilma, Donna, and Joyce and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews of the Smith family.

Hazel left her beloved New Brunswick at a young age and moved to Toronto, where she took nursing at Women's Hospital. She also attended EPBC in Peterborough. She met and married Al while working at H. H. Williams Memorial Hospital in Hay River, N.W.T. They resided in Pine Point N. W. T. until retiring in Peterborough.

Al and Hazel moved to their final home at Fairhaven long term care facility in Peterborough in 2017, where he left her in June of 2020. She has been lovingly and well cared for by her Fairhaven family. She died there on May 18, 2025. We want to give special thanks to the staff of Westview 2 who made Hazel’s final home so happy.

Funeral Service will be held at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St., Peterborough on Thursday, May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Highland Park Cemetery, Peterborough.
