Mark, Maria & Family:
So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. May all your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time. It’s unfortunate that we can’t pay our respects properly by attending the funeral or even buying a sympathy card at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My condolences to your family. Mrs Shuwera was my kindergarten teacher at King George PS in 1983-1984. I remember her as a kind and patient lady. I remember swimming in her swimming pool on a visit to her house with my mother June. My deepest sympathies. She is fondly remembered.

My condolences to Mark and family. We all reach this difficult point in our lives. often at different times, but the same point nonetheless. It's tough.
All I can offer is to feel fortunate that you had her as long as you did, then move forward armed with her memory and the strength she instilled in you.

As Ondra’s sister
I have so many great memories of a life well lived.
Early in her life Ondra excelled at the piano, and our father would tease her that she might find “The lost chord that David played before the Lord”.
From there she plunged into teaching whole heartedly.
Married Danny.
Even more talents came forth. Danny’s outstanding market gardens would only be outdone by Ondra’s elegant flower gardens.
Both Ondra and Danny loved food preparation! To share supper with them was truly special! There would be so many dishes some Ukrainian, some Pennsylvania Dutch and uniquely theirs. Obviously they have passed on their love of preparing food onto both boys.
I remember one Sunday visit to their farm, there were several goats eyeing our car for a perch. Later as we sat down to a beautifully made dinner, the screen door opened and in walked a goat. Ondra promptly handed it some lettuce and out it went! There were more surprises that day then just “guess who’s coming to dinner.”
Just two years ago our sons gave us IPads and hooked us up. What a wonderful blessing!
We spent every Sunday since sharing memories and feelings that only sisters can share.
Ondra was an inspiration and she will be greatly missed!

Ondra taught both of our kids Heather and Brian Shannon. I helped in the classroom as well. We became close friends for years after our kids had finished school. We shared many a laugh with her and Dan. They were the best of the best. The kids adored her, she taught the kids kindness, fairness and empathy. Her classroom was always a loving and safe place. Our sympathies to her family.

"Mrs. Shuwera", as our three kids knew her, taught much more to Megan, Luke and David than the "3Rs". Ondra taught them to be kind, to love, to be patient, to be creative and, most importantly, to like themselves. Ondra was a force to be dealt with at King George Public School. There were few primary teachers like Ondra; even more importantly, there were few human beings like her. Our hearts go out to her family, friends and former colleagues.
