Harry immigrated to Canada at 20 years old. In October of 1953, his boat landed at Pier 21 in Halifax and then made his way to Toronto. Through the Young Peoples Group at the Christian Reformed Church he met Agnes, who became his sweetheart and life-long friend. They married September 6, 1958 and moved to Peterborough in 1964. Harry worked in GE as a lab technician in the nuclear department. He retired in 1996.
Harry loved children and his church. He organized the Friday Night Bible School at church for at least 10 years. He also served as an elder. Harry was a welcoming person in the church community and he was often the last person to go home after the service.
Family always was very important to Harry. He was the beloved husband of Agnes (nee Kleingeld). He was the loving dad to Linda, Harry (Martha), John (Emma), Sandra, Paul (Katherine). He was loved by 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Matheson, and the caring team at Kawartha Heights Retirement Living for their exceptional care and support they provided while he remained in the comfort of his home.
In memory of Harry, donations can be made to Rhema Christian School, Peterborough, Ontario
