Passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in her 94th year surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her brothers Irvine and Bill (Mary), and her sister, Maureen. Iris was a cherished mother to Alex (Anne), Suzanne (Pat), Steve (Kaarina), and Johanne (Tobin). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in the UK and Canada. She is survived by her brothers, Miller (Gwen) and Alistar (Anne), and her sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) in the UK and Diane (Ed) in Saskatchewan. Iris was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland in 1930. Her family were in the fish processing business. After surviving nightly bombings during the war, she finished school and travelled to Canada on the RMS Queen Elizabeth. She met John in Toronto, and it was ‘Love at First Sight.’ Iris spent her career working at the Bank of Nova Scotia Data Center in Don Mills until her retirement. Afterwards, she began a new chapter travelling the world with John. She loved to play Euchre, and loved to cook, bake and to spend time with family at her home and at the cottage on Lake Mississauga. A Private family service and interment will take place. A celebration of Iris’ life will take place on Tuesday August 26th, 2025, from 1-3pm at Westney Gardens, 1010 Westney Road North, Ajax. Iris will be deeply missed by family and friends.
