Nov. 14, 1949 – Oct. 24, 2025
Jim passed away peacefully following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
His quick wit could brighten your day, and his many sayings will echo across the lake for millennia. He had fond memories of time spent with friends on their boat the “Sir Rosis of the River” and enjoyed coaching broomball and playing hockey in Millbrook. Jim could often be found with a fishing pole in one hand, an Export in the other and a smile on his face. The twinkle in his eye always gave him away.
Jim is predeceased by his parents William & Leonne Arthur, siblings Sharon, Billy and Jack (Lib), niece Kimberly and nephew John. He is survived by his siblings David (Deb) and Cheryl (Neil), as well as his boy’s mother, Gail.
His memory lives on with his sons Jimmy (Heather), Jon (Cass), and Dan (Carley), and Gail’s children Cindy, David and Craig (Tina). He was much loved by his nephews Billy, DJ (Jenna), and Brian (Jackie), and his niece Lisa. Jim was a beloved grandfather (Papa) to Emberly, Hunter, Sarah and Ora, and an honorary grandfather (Papa Jim) to Harlow and Holden. Jim will be missed by many other family members.
Jim will be forever remembered by the countless friends he made in Peterborough, Fraserville, and while living at his family home on McQuaby Lake in Nipissing, and throughout his career with General Electric and W.A. Electric Controls Ltd.
His family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, PSWs, paramedics and other caregivers who showed immeasurable compassion and kindness. Jim will be as deeply missed as he was loved.
Cremation has taken place. In honouring Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada (https://www.rmhccanada.ca/donate).
