MCCAULEY, James Ivan (August 15, 1942 – April 22, 2021) It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of James at the age of 78 years. Loving husband for 56 years of Irene Hazel McCauley (nee: Buckton). Beloved father of Jim (Eleanor), Karen (Bart), Terry (Debbie), Steve, Dan (Trish) and Debbie (Dale). Proud Grandfather of many grandchildren and especially Sean McCauley. Dear Uncle of Scott (Nicole), Chris and many other nieces and nephews. Will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Joan (Paul). A special thanks to Dave. Jim’s smiling face was always seen at Brookdale Plaza where he proudly worked as a security guard right up to his final days. Jim was very well respected by family, friends and anyone that knew him and highly regarded in the community. He believed that if you gave kindness and respect to others, then you would get it back. A generous man, he was always willing to help any way he could. Jim had a special love of animals, and in return, they loved him too, especially Buster. Jim’s favourite times were spent with his family and he always put their needs ahead of his own. Jim/Dad you will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We all loved you. On the day my mom and lil’ Jim were moving into their new home, big Jim was so concerned about me lifting things and my fears of Covid. He kept wanting to make sure I was okay - the young 23 year old girl, meanwhile I was so worried about this sweet 75 year old man and his wife.

Anytime my mom told him a story about me, in a situation of good or bad, I’d be told that big Jim AND lil’ Jim were proud of me for how I handled it. Two men who have no blood to me other than through loving my mom. This has meant a lot to me in this past year and while I am sad to have not spent more time as a family unit, I am grateful to have had these short and sweet moments with big Jim, and I know I will continue to get to know who that man was through lil’ Jim. Seeing how much big Jim took care of his wife, and knowing the resemblance in his son, he gave me peace knowing my mom is well loved and taken care of.

Jim was a true gentleman. We had the pleasure of having him in our employ for the past 12 years as a great guard and an even better friend. Thoughtful and dedicated to his work and family. He will be sadly missed by us, and all his fellow employees here at Kawartha Guard. Godspeed Jim, you were a one of! All our love and thoughts. Dave, Patsy and Staff.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Jim personally but I have been regaled with the tales of his adventure filled life by his son Jim and son’s partner Ellie. I know this loss will be felt keenly by many and I wish them all the strength to hold onto one another, and find the moments of laughter through the tears that will allow hearts to heal and the distance seem a little less. Jim will truly live on in the memories of his family and friends. May grace surround you in your grief.
Much love... aileen~

I knew James and Irene from Costco. No matter what was going on he was always so pleasant. Always patient , with a smile and a kind word. He will be missed very much.

Jim was a wonderful neighbour. Over the years I would see how kind and thoughtful he was, especially with his wife Irene. She always came first. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
