My heartfelt condolences to Joan, Suzanne and family.  We have lost a wonderful person. I remember Jim at Domtar as always having a smile on his face and everytime you asked how he was he was always FANTASTIC. You are in my prayers.

Thinking now of my much loved Aunt Joan and each of my beloved cousins Richard, Patricia and, Suzanne and hoping that they know I grieve with them at a loss so great. Jim McGrattan gave back much to a wider family and community and asked all but nothing in return. My own early life was made happier and richer for his fondness and humour ; my adult life richer farther still for the depth of his commitment to our family, in particular my mother, his sister Janet. His gift of cheer and humour are a balm I will miss and a gift I will always treasure. My cherished Uncle Jimmy. How much greater the loss as his children. How much deeper the sorrow as his partner and wife.

My sincere condolences to Joan and the McGrattan clan. I had the great pleasure and good fortune to meet jim early in my career at Domtar/Norampac. He was the kind of mentor everyone should have.. kind, caring honest, irrepressibly funny and extremely knowledgeable. I am sure I never would have survived the craziness of our industry without his guidance (as well as brother Bill's too) The industry lost a great talent when he retired and the world has lost a great human.. RIP Jim.

Jim is the Grampie of my boyfriend, Jeremy. I did have the pleasure of meeting him. He was very friendly, kind and welcoming. The time we got to spend with him was not long enough, But the memories of our visit are forever with me. Thinking of our family always and may they find comfort in each other in this tough time.

Suzanne: Am extremely sorry to hear about your Father. Thankfully he didn't have to suffer long.I knew enough that he was clearly loved by many, including my girls.
