With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of James (Jamie) Tait (62) of Peterborough, Ontario on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 5:00am. Having struggled with health issues for many years, Jamie fought a hard battle with cancer and never gave up. The family will be forever grateful to the staff at Hospice Peterborough for making his final steps comfortable and peaceful.
Being pre-deceased by his parents, James & Dorothy, his elder sister Debbie (Downer) and daughter Sarah Jane, Jamie will be deeply missed and remembered by his daughter Jessica Marie, life partner Kimberly Duke, sister Karen and brother Dale (wife Darcie). Jamie will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many, many cousins. Being the charismatic, social being he was, Jamie will also be missed by many friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched.
Jamie spent the bulk of his career working as a chef, some of his favorite local spots he worked in included the Shamrock, Sin City/ Tank House, Lock 27 and Tamarac Golf Course. At Tamarac, Jamie was able to combine two of his loves – cooking and golf. Over the years, Jamie was active in a number of league sports including bowling, baseball, and darts but his greatest love was to be out on the golf course. With enough money and energy, he would have been out there seven days a week.
Jamie faced life at full speed led by his heart. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity; there was very little he would not have done for family or friends who needed help. His smile and laughter always filled the room he was in and he loved to have a good time.
Jamie will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held in the Fall.
May he rest in peace.
