Jean Jackson

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 12, 2016 after joyfully celebrating her 90th birthday. Dear mother of 9, Gary (Vivian), Karen Wilson (Bob), Susan Moore, Rob (Linda), Fred (Lynn), Nancy, Donna, and Chris. Predeceased by her son James (Joanne) and her daughter-in-law Dawn. Beloved “mom” of Diana Ellis (Merv). Cherished grandmother of Chantal, Jesse, Allison, Tammy, Jamie, Stuart, Tyler, Carly, Selena, Amanda, Kristy, Mariah, Tana, Jeremiah, and proud great-grandmother of Kyle, Lindsay, Curtis, Lacey, Emma, Addison, Holden, Liam, Colton. Dear sister of Mildred, Helen, Joan, Evelyn, Don (Gloria), Phyllis (Ray). Predeceased by her parents William and Mabel Samis (nee-Grant) and siblings Mary, Doreen, Ken, Ron and Eddy, and her cherished granddaughter Casey. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and family friends. Jean lived a long life built on strong family values. She enjoyed “going” places, be it drives, restaurants or visiting others. She traveled across Canada and to Bermuda. Visitors to her home of more than 60 years on Fairbairn St. would be treated to her delicious baking and if they had time, “a quick game of cards”. She died as she lived, with courage and dignity, and surrounded by love.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 and from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
