It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Alphonse Conlin, who peacefully passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on the morning of November 7, 2024, in his 70th year, after a short but courageous battle with ALS.
John was the beloved husband of Deb Conlin (Northey) a proud father to his sons Brad (Stephanie) and Kyle (Hillarie) and “Popa John” to his grand-dog Wrigley. His love for family was unwavering, and he found joy in the simple moments shared with them.
Johnny dedicated 39 years to GE Peterborough as a STEELER, was an avid golfer, talented guitarist, and lover of scratch tickets and card games. He and Deb cherished their winters in Marco Island, Florida, where they made lasting memories and friendships.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including his extended family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, love, and a life well-lived.
The biggest thank you for all the support from the ALS society and Marci our Occupational therapist who helped us navigate this terrible disease right from beginning. We appreciate all the nursing staff in D2 palliative, especially Bonnie and Danielle who went above and beyond as well as Dr. Mallory who was so kind, compassionate and caring. Lastly thank you to Lindsay, our wonderful caring PSW from St Elizabeth’s who earned Johnnys trust in a situation that he wasn’t keen to let happen.
A celebration to honour Johnny’s life will be held at the Ennismore Community Centre 553 Ennis Rd, Ennismore on Saturday November 23rd from 1-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society in his memory.
