It's with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Gordon Mason on August 24th, 2026 at the age of 92. Born in Regina Saskatchewan to George and Claire Mason. Brother to Bruce (Deceased). John passed with his loving wife Marie; children David, Cindy and Jennifer by his side. Will be fondly remembered by his son in law Barry Craft; grandchildren Tyler, Jacquelyn, Mitchel, Erica, Curtis, Cady, Jadeyn, Brendan; and great-grandchildren Margot, Stella, and Audrey.
John worked for CP Express for over 33 years. He loved the Peterborough Petes and was a season supporter for over 20 years. John and Marie enjoyed travelling extensively going to Egypt, Amsterdam, Greece, Japan, Scotland, Ireland and cruising the Danube and Mediterranean to name a few. His love of driving took them coast to coast and to Alaska, twice. His daily recreation was enjoying a beer or two at the bar to meet with his buddies. He loved volunteering, picking up the church ladies taking them to their weekly luncheons at St. Andrews Church. The ladies would often comment what a gentleman he was, so polite and courteous. He was a great lover of dogs especially his dogs, JC and Brandi.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 11:00 am at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the PRHC Foundation or the Peterborough Humane Society.
