It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of June Marie Talbot (née Riall) on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, at the age of 94. Born in Dublin, Ireland, June was the beloved daughter of Patrick Joseph (PJ) and Norah Riall.
June was a devoted and cherished wife to Kenneth (Murray) Talbot (deceased 2013) and a loving mother to Margaret Talbot (deceased 2002) and Patricia (Trish) Wood (Brian Wood). She was a proud and deeply loved grandmother to Julia Wood-O’Toole (Liam O’Toole) and Ian Wood (Carolyn McConkey).
June was predeceased by her brother Raymond Riall and was the dear sister-in-law of Mel (d) and Eileen Talbot (d), Phyllis (d) and Bill Ireland (d), Floyd (d) and Thelma Talbot, and Lois and Lorne Hurren (d). She was a beloved aunt who treasured her nieces and nephews and held a deep fondness for the extended Talbot family.
June’s adventurous spirit and love of travel inspired her to immigrate to Canada in 1957. It was in Schefferville, Quebec, that she met Murray, the love of her life, and together they enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage. They moved to Sudbury, after their wedding, where they raised their family, creating lasting memories and building a strong foundation for their daughters. They eventually moved to Peterborough to be active and devoted grandparents. Along the way, June formed countless friendships, treasuring the connections she made in every chapter of her life. June’s caring heart and compassion drew people to her, and she nurtured many friendships that spanned decades.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mark Street United Church (90 Hunter Street East, Peterborough) on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with a reception to follow. June will be laid to rest in a private interment prior to her Celebration of Life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who supported June throughout her life, especially in her later years. They are particularly grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Peterborough Retirement Residence and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC).
In memory of June, if desired donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation. Expressions of sympathy and online condolences may be made at comstockkaye.com
June’s kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
