Konrad Heinrich Kinzl

Konrad Heinrich Kinzl, age 81, of Peterborough, Ontario passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022. Predeceased by his late wife Helga Waltraud Kinzl (nee Zaunschirm) and his parents Hans and Paula Kinzl. Konrad is survived by Helga’s daughter, Rafaela Sarel-Prommer and Rafaela’s children, Dan Sarel and Natalie Sarel (and her children Olivia & Filippo Moroni). Konrad was born July 18, 1940 in Vienna, Austria. He studied Ancient History, Classical Philology and Archeology at the University of Vienna where he received his doctorate. In 1968 he left Austria and came to Canada. July 1, 1971 he became an assistant professor at Trent University in Peterborough, ON. He continued on to be a Full Professor of Ancient History in 1981, then becoming emeritus on June 30, 2006. He was a lifetime member of the Society for Classical Studies (formerly the American Philological Association), the Mommsen Society and the Classical Association. He was an editor and author of multiple articles and books on archaic and classical Greek history. At the request of Konrad, cremation has taken place.
