It is with deep sadness, accompanied by enormous pride in her valiant struggle, that Laura's loving family announces her passing. Laura left us after a lengthly illness on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in her 29th year. A Peterborough native, she was born July 9, 1986. She was the beloved and only child of Bonnie and Kevin Bunker and the late Ron Murdock, half sister to the late Tyler O'Reilly, loved and loving granddaughter of Isla McKinghtand the late Ernest McKnight, Joan Bunker and the late William Bunker and the late Margaret and Leonard Murdock. Numerous aunts, uncles, friends, cousins and friends in Ontario, New Brunswick, and out West mourn her loss along with her closest cousin George Ripolland her best friend of many years, Anica James. Laura's lifelong struggle with health issues was balanced with an inordinate zest for life. She packed a lifetime into a life that was too short, with a love of camping, cooking, baking, gardening and travel to destinations throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. No mention of Laura is complete without reference to her much loved cats, Monty and Maggie! She was proud of having been an Air Cadet in her youth as a member of the local 534 Raider Squadron. Laura was a graduate of Thomas A. Stewart S.S. and a student of Fleming College. In recent years, Laura was a baker for Compass Group, based at PRHC. There, as everywhere, she had a ready and beautiful smile and a friendly disposition to share with everyone. Her personable nature and ease of conversation touched many and so there will be many who mourn her, but also remember and celebrate her, with love and a recognition of a life well and truly lived. Laura's family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at PRHC Intensive Care Unit for the compassion and their care of Laura and her loved ones. Laura Murdocks life will be celebrated Saturday, September 20, 2014 between 1.00-4.00pm (Service at 2.00pm) at Auburn Bible Chapel, 911 Armour Road., in Peterborough.
