Ph.D. (Retired Professor, Trent University)
On Sunday, the 16th of October 2011, Lee died, peacefully, and gently, at his home in Peterborough. His life partner of 36 years, William (Bill) Gunson and his precious girls - Sarah Anne, Sibyl Louise and Edith Victoria - will feel his absence from their lives, profoundly. Cherished friends, colleagues and so many of his former students will remember him fondly, for his enrichment of their lives.
Lee - a native of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick - pursued an academic career and obtained his doctorate in psychology from McGill University, based on his research into the causes of schizophrenia. His teaching career began at Bishops College in Montreal in 1963 and continued at Trent University in 1966 and until his retirement in 1995. During Trent's early, halcyon years, Lee also served as a Don at Champlain College.
Lee loved engaging with his students, encouraging creativity and a passion for the acquisition of knowledge and the importance of individuality. He demonstrated that, so well, through the courses he taught, both in the Department of Psychology and the Department of English. For so many of his students, he was a unique professor, a devoted mentor and a beneficial counsel.
In retirement, Lee continued his pursuit of the theories and principles of psychology through extensive reading, selective interactions and his collecting of art.
There will be a gathering of his friends on Saturday, the 12th of November, 2011, at 2:00 PM at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario (705) 745-4683, to celebrate his life, their memories and the joy of his having been.
Memorial donations to Lakefield Animal Welfare Society, World Wildlife Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockfuneralhome.com
