July 23, 1956 – June 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Maksymetz, who passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on June 10, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Lorraine faced her illness with remarkable strength, bravery, and grace.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Ron Maksymetz, Lorraine was a devoted mother to her four children: Robynne Lee, Brodie Maksymetz, Spencer Maksymetz, and Montanna Maksymetz. She was also a proud and loving Nana to six cherished grandchildren: Kesslyn, Kyla, Kendall, Dallas, Addison, and Blake. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She leaves behind her siblings, Patricia Williams, Cathy Lunn, Dan Woodward, and Angela Powell. She was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Strong. Lorraine also leaves behind their spouses, many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
She had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid gardener who found joy in nurturing flowers, tending to her garden, and enjoying a fire in her backyard. She adored her dogs and enjoyed spending time surrounded by nature, and family.
Known for her infectious laugh, warm smile, kind heart, and sassy sense of humor, Lorraine had a gift for connecting with people. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Her compassion and vibrant spirit touched countless lives and will be remembered by all who knew her.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the love she shared so freely. Lorraine’s legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hospice Peterborough for the exceptional care and support they provided during Lorraine’s final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Millbrook Legion, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Lorraine’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice Peterborough in memory of Lorraine. Your support would be a meaningful tribute to the care and compassion she received.
