It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lucie Maria Verpoorte on July 17, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Jacob Verpoorte. Loving mother of Sabeth Verpoorte (Bart), Dr. Marc Verpoorte (Christine) and proud Oma to Jacob Verpoorte (Kaylena) and Kathleen Cowling- Verpoorte (John). Amazing sister to Adelbert van Miert, Jeroen van Miert, Wilbert van Miert, Godelief Hofman-van Miert, the late Frans van Miert and the late Wies van Miert. She will be fondly missed in the hearts of all she touched.
Lucie was always known for her beautiful gardens. She loved the outdoors, which her gardens always showed. Lucie always enjoyed making floral arrangements from her gardens for friends, neighbours and her church. Her beautiful garden was always her happy place.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s at Fleming and all their staff for taking such wonderful care of our mom for the 2.5 years she resided with them.
Granting Lucie’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service will be held. Lucie would prefer to be remembered during the happy and joyful times.
