Mabel Lillian Mosher

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mabel “Maizie” Lillian Mosher (née Scott) on August 8, 2026 at Royal Gardens in Peterborough, Ontario at the age of 86. Mabel is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years George, loving daughter Janet and caring sister Margaret (née Scott) Demmings in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Mabel, also known as Maizie to her family from New Brunswick, was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mabel (née Reid) Scott, brothers Reid Scott (Lois), Vaughan Scott (Gloria, then Shirley), James Scott (Hope, then survived by Fern), sister Helen (née Scott) Davidson (Guy), brother-in-law Bert Demmings and her dear friends.

Mabel was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick and raised on a farm on the north shore in Janeville, New Brunswick. After graduating from Bathurst High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick.

Mabel and George met and married while teaching in Saint John, New Brunswick then moved to Peterborough in 1967 where they both taught at Adam Scott CVI. Later Mabel then taught part time at Sir Sandford Fleming College for over 25 years. Mabel was actively involved at All Saints’ Anglican Church, volunteered at PRHC and enjoyed travelling including countless trips to New Brunswick. She always enjoyed sporty cars, driving, her family near and far and adored George and Janet.

Mabel’s “Maizie’s” kindness and care was unmatched, and she will be deeply missed by her entire family, friends and neighbours.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 1:30pm - 2:30pm at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 235 Rubidge St., Peterborough followed by the Funeral Service at 2:30pm. A reception to follow the funeral in the Church’s Parish Hall. Private family interment will be held the next day at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.
