My deepest condolences to Katrine and her family.  I loved hearing your stories about your Dad through the years.   I am so sorry he was taken so suddenly from all of you.

It was my good fortune to live with Mike and Eva for a year when I first arrived in Nipigon to teach.  We had many entertaining discussions around the dinner table - always lively, always fun.  Mike was the Best Man at my wedding.  God be with you always Mike.  You were a good man.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of your father. It's been a very long time since seeing him. The picture brings back fond memories of our public school days. Living just down the street from your family I recall 'hanging out at the playground' and seeing your father quite often heading to the school. All of my brothers and sisters send their condolences. (Fay, Fawn, Yvonne, Carol Ann, Wendy, Willy, David and Bruce)

Hi Dave and Ruth.  I will always remember the first time that I found out that your Mom and I had our birthdays on the same day.  We where walking into the Roadside and someone said Happy Birthday Eva.  I said thanks but how did you know that it was my birthday.  Then I turned around and saw your Mom standing behind me and it was her that they where talking too.  That was an Eva and an Eva with birthdays on the same date but different years mind you.  I think that your Dad and my Dad got to know each other because of Brighton carpet in Lindsay.  I remember a storey that your Dad would tell us of your Mom and Dad coming up to the farm and getting some milk.  Years ago we use to see Mike over at the Roadside every morning for a coffee. Those where the good old days!!!!

I wish to extend my sympathies to Katrine and her family. The loss of a parent, at any age, is a very difficult experience. My heart and thoughts are with you.

Great memories of Mike when he was custodian at Nipigon Public School. We lived across the street in Churchill St. and visited Mike and eva regularly. He did have a great garden - especially raspberries - I always picked after everyone else because no one wanted to bend over UNDER the bushes. Herman recalls going blueberry picking in his 1956 car. We ended up with more dust in hte car than out - cracks in the floorboards! The Clearwaters

We will always remember Mike and Eva from our days together in Nipigon. Mike was always so cheeful and ever helpful. Recently we were always amazed at the way Mike still managed to get in touch with us each Christmas, even after Eva passed away. We send our condolences to David and Ruth for the loss of their very good father.

Mike was so welcoming when we arrived in Nigon, as imigrants. He fed us and helped us find accommodation.  He and his wife Eva took us under their wings.
 He loved gardening and I think it was his love of farms that drew him to southern Ontario. That and the fact that his sister lived in Parry Sound. This photo is the way I remember him . He always had  a smile and a cheerful word to greet us.

I want to thank my Dad for allowing me a wonderful life. Together he and my Mom, Eva, chose David and I, and did their best to give us a good life. Their unwavering love, support and guidance helped to shape us into the adults we are today. I will never forget all the good times we had as a family, the lessons we learned about life and how to be a good person. I will carry Dad and Mom with me forever and never forget Mom singing her little songs, or Dad doing the hokey-pokey to make me laugh. I am honoured to have been the daughter of Mike and Eva Ochitwa
