Michael was one of the good ones. As pointed out already, he was a genuine person, and one of the brightest people I've ever met. He saw and cherished the beauty in even the smallest of things - things most of us never saw, let along appreciated. His clever hands could do anything, from creating wonderful art, to writing code, to replacing window panes.

Michael did not suffer fools gladly, and I will greatly miss his pithy observations when he met with one. 

I believe the world hurt Michael and am pleased his suffering has ended, though he will be missed.

My deepest condolences to his mother, Ingrid, and my everlasting gratitude to Sue Logan for the care and comfort she provided to him in his last years.
